change in plans, update on me

so i've kinda left y'all in the dark on the house stuff. it's been a very bumpy road. we finally got going good, got the footings ready to dig and the weather went to shit. then the well digger completely trashed our driveway with his big truck and never even made it up to where he needed to dig. we've been at a stand still ever since.

then we had flooding and our driveway caused the road to wash out because the guy we paid to do the driveway didn't do it right, left in a plastic pipe he shouldn't have, didn't build the box on it that keeps it from clogging and so that's why the wash out. so the county calls and they have to dig up the pipe, and we find out the assshole didn't even get the driveway permit we told him to get. $6,000 and this dude has totally screwed us up. so the driveway is shot and has to be totally redone, at a cost of about $10,000 to get it the way we want/need it.

chris has been looking for work but things are bad here. we have companies closing left and right (our big carpet mills are even doing layoffs). seriously there were like 3 help wanted ads in the paper. construction is down so side work is limited. so we have all this money going out and nothing coming in. and i just don't want to run out of money.

so new plan.we are adding on to my parents house to make staying her long-term easier. once it's built, we will have a big bedroom, the babies will have their own room, we'll have a den, and our own bath, my mom will get a new mud/laundry room, and dining room. the older boys will still use their existing bedrooms and the existing hall bath. we started the ball rolling with permits yesterday and chris is outside with our foundation guy right now. this addition is a "payment" of sorts to my parents for all they've done, and we're not just giving rent to a stranger, at least this way what we would have paid in rent is an investment for my parents and in the end for us (b/c one day the house will be mine).

once the addition is done, Chris will hopefully have found a job, the baby will be here, and life can kind of resume some normalcy. then we'll start back at square one on the house, but rather than build the guest house first, we'll go straight for the main house. we'll put all our money and energy into making everything exactly the way we want it, able to take our time and not feel rushed to get it done for the sake of everyone's sanity.....starting with the driveway fiasco fix.

so that's where we are. as for me and baby. i am on bedrest. i am 1cm, and contracting despite my meds. the goal is to make it to 35 weeks. i'm 31w 2d. right now there's not much i can do but sit and wait and rest and spend as much time on my left side as possible. he of course still does not have a name, big suprise. but otherwise we're ready for him. my next appt is monday.
